Brief History

No one really knows when the phrase "tap dance" was first used - perhaps as early as the 1900’s… but  apart from being an essential skill for the professional dancer, tap dance is one of the most enjoyable and rhythmic forms of dance. There are varying styles; Rhythm Tap, Jazz Tap, American Tap to name a few, all of which can be combined to make fantastic routines..!

Examinations & Medal Tests

The Academy offers a series of Examinations which are held by United Teachers of Dance who are Members of Council for Dance and Education Training (UK). They begin at children's primary grades 1 & 2 through to professional teaching qualifications. Medal Tests are also held, where solo or group numbers can be danced. Medals start at Bronze - right through to Medallion.
